Data For Development, Inc (DFDI) opened its doors for business in 1984 providing data entry, lettershop, and list brokerage services.  Shortly thereafter we saw the need for a low-cost and reliable service to convert mainframe tapes to pc diskettes for others in the direct marketing industry.  This led to the formation of our Data Conversion unit, which converted data between incompatible systems, software, and media for clients in a myriad of vertical markets.  

We rapidly developed a reputation for being able to effect almost any conversion on-time and under budget.  By handling other companies’ data we got exposure to, and gained valuable experience with all the problems inherent in poorly compiled and maintained databases.  This led to the launch of our Data Quality Solutions Group, a business unit offering a suite of processes and techniques to standardize, validate, and enhance client data.  DFDI quickly became a major force in this arena, and soon found itself providing data quality solutions to a number of “heavyweights” in the direct marketing industry like Metromail, Dataman, May and Speh, Direct Marketing Technology, and others. 

Additional services developed over the years include an array of other value-added direct marketing specialties such as postal presorting, merge/purge, laser personalization, list rental fulfillment, database generation, etc.  

With the introduction of the Technology Partners Program in 2000 we’ve expanded our offerings again; bringing two decades of data quality solutions experience to entirely new markets.
